why blbs

BLBS Travel Baseball Leagues were developed in 1996 by former Major League Players Dan Briggs and John Pacella (owners of Big League Baseball School). The “Travel Baseball WITHOUTH the Travel” concept came after years of Dan and John observing the frustration of parents and players searching for a baseball experience that could offer a proper balance between competitive challenge and family priorities.

BLBS Travel Baseball Leagues are the perfect fit for parents and players who want more competition than recreational ball, but don't want the extreme expense, time commitment, and fatigue from game schedules of typical, select travel ball teams.

BLBS Summer and Fall Leagues are comprised of 150-plus teams, representing all areas of Central Ohio and outlying cities such as Springfield, Lancaster, Newark, and Marion. BLBS offer a venue for teams that are among the best select teams in Central Ohio, as well as teams transitioning from community programs to the next level.  The success, and continued growth, of BLBS Travel Baseball is due to a commitment of providing a fun and challenging playing environment for all teams and their players, from a broad spectrum of competitive levels. BLBS Travel Baseball teams have an opportunity to enter and progress each year, from ages nine through High School, in both Baseball and Fast Pitch.

BLBS Travel Baseball emphasizes player development, encouraging coaches to teach how to compete and win as a natural by product of the collective improvement of each player’s skills. Players have an obvious passion for the game, want to improve their skills, and enjoy competing against teams of similar age, skill and experience levels. BLBS achieves this competitive balance through a unique scheduling process that is done by hand, one match up at a time, which allows each coach to customize a schedule that best fits his team’s ability to compete.

BLBS will offer free Skills Clinics during the season as an opportunity for players to develop core fundamentals needed to be successful.  Our commitment is for players to enter, develop, and continue on to High School, College and Professional levels.
