Player Information

BLBS Travel Baseball Leagues are for Youth Divisions 9-10, 11-2, & 13-14, High School Varsity and Junior Varsity, and Fast Pitch U-10 through U18. Summer Leagues boast some 70 plus teams for Youth Divisions, while Fall Leagues carry 80 plus teams between Youth, High School and Fast Pitch. Below you will find specifics on registration, league guidelines and FAQs.


How to Register for a League

Players will either register with their team, or as a free agent. 

Register with Your Team

  1. Register under your Coach's Name from the Registration page on this site.
    (Access from the Registration Tab on the Menu Bar, Coach's are sorted by Division)
  2. Make your Payment
    Payments must be made through our secure on-site system on a VISA, MasterCard or Discover card, or in person at Big League Baseball School, 7046 Worthington-Galena Rd., Worthington, Ohio 43085.

    Summer League a Player Registration begins January 1 each year

    There will be an additional $25 late fee for registrations made after the March 1st deadline.
    Fall League Fees must be paid in full upon registration.

Register as a Free Agent

  1. Select Free Agent Registration Link 
    Division determined by the player's age at the beginning of the league.

  2. Make your Payment

    Free Agent Summer League Requires A $100 Deposit Upon Registering.
    Full Refund If Not Placed: Early Withdrawal Fee $25 (before March 1st)

    Fall League Fees must be paid in full upon registration.

  3. Free Agent Assessments
    Youth and Fast Pitch Players: Once registered call Big League Baseball School to schedule your evaluation (not a try out). The evaluation affords us the opportunity to meet both parents and players, establish skill level and gather necessary information to help placement with the appropriate team situation. 
  4. High School Players
    We abide by the Ohio High School Athletic Association roster limitation rule of no more than 4 players from the same high school program on any one team. Team assignements for free agents
    involve OHSAA roster limitation, player positions and personal requests (with friends) as considerations.

  5. Assignments
    Coach will contact you to offer you a position. Once agreed, you will be added to their roster.

    We will make every attempt to place players with teams.
    Any player who is not placed on a team will be issued a full refund (less any early withdrawal fees).

Refund Policy

Cancellations for all Leagues must be requested in writing to registration@blbstravelbaseball. Players or teams canceling prior to the registration deadline will receive a full refund less a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be issued after the registration deadline except in the case of documented injury.

Skill Clinics

Big League Baseball School owners, Dan Briggs and John Pacella bring thirty years of experience as players (10 Major League Teams) and coaches at both the college and professional level, to these specialized skill clinics which concentrate on the core fundamentals every player needs to be successful. Big League has been instructing players from ages 9 through college since 1995 with over 160 competing successfully at the College and Professional level. BLBS Travel Baseball offers these development clinics free to league participants. We highly recommend players attend. Check the web site for times and dates.

Field Rules & Maintenance

  • BLBS Travel Baseball will have the fields dragged, lined, and ready for play.
    BLBS will set bases and provided game balls.
  • No soft toss against any fences will be permitted.
    Portable soft toss nets MUST be 20 yards away from the dugout.
  • It is the team’s responsibility to thoroughly clean up the dugout before leaving.
  • Parent’s/players should pick up after themselves.
  • There is NO alcohol permitted at any facility.
  • Vehicles are only permitted in designated parking areas, and MUST NOT enter the complex.

Please report any abuse of fields to BLBS as we do not want to loose the use of these facilities.

Codes of Conduct

BLBS Travel Baseball conducts its Leagues in a professional manner. Players, Coaches and Parents are expected to act respectfully on and off the field. BLBS representatives are available at all games to handle any situation that may arise. FAQs – Players

Can a player register as a free agent (independent player)?
Yes, once registered player must call for an evalution appointment. Free agent will be placed with an existing team in your area, or with a new team formed from the free agent pool. Big League will provide contact information to interested coaches-once placed player registers with his new team and pays balance of fee.
 
What is the age cut off date for each division?
We use the start date of the league for Youth Divisions & Fast Pitch. High School players must be incoming Freshmen, underclassmen may play up with references.
 
What are the equipment requirements/restrictions?
9-10 and 11-12 Youth Divisions: no bat restriction, no metal spikes
13-14 Youth Division: -5 or -3 bat, metal spikes are permitted
High School: -3 bat

Can we register a complete team?
Yes, a coach can register his team. Should the coach not have a full roster (12 minimum) they can complete their roster form our free agent pool.
 
What are the details of the practice and game schedules? 
Practice times will vary depending on the coach and team. Teams will typically play two games/teams per week as a double header on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Exceptions may apply.
 
Where are the league games played? 
BLBS Travel Baseball features state of the art playing sites such as Fred Beekman Sports Complex at The Ohio State University, the North Columbus Sports Complex (part of the Ridgeview Middle School Complex), and various high school fields. What does the league fee include? 
Fee includes a uniform, league clinics, a batting cage token package and discounts on equipment at Big League Baseball School. See the specific league page for details.

Are the umpires certified? 
Yes, all umpires are paid, certified professionals.

Is there any time off during the Summer League for scheduling vacation? 
Yes, We usually have one weekend (early July) with no games scheduled (see league schedule).
 
Will there be concession service at the games?
Yes, We have a full concession operating during all league games.
