Travel Caliber Competition

BLBS players have a passion for the game, want to improve their skills, and enjoy competing against teams of similar age, skill and experience levels. BLBS achieves this competitive balance through a unique scheduling process that is done by hand, one match up at a time, which allows each coach to customize a schedule that best fits his team’s ability to compete. Our mid-season pool play and year-end tournament formats complete the league’s competitive balance (see schedule and practice).

BLBS Summer and Fall Leagues are comprised of 150-plus teams, representing all areas of Central Ohio and outlying cities such as Springfield, Lancaster, Newark, Marion and Marietta. BLBS provided competition among the best select teams in Central Ohio, as well as teams transitioning from community programs to the next level.  The success, and continued growth, of BLBS Travel Baseball is due to a commitment of providing a fun and challenging playing environment for all teams and their players, from a broad spectrum of competitive levels. In addition, BLBS Travel Baseball encourages teams to enter and progress each year, from ages nine through High School, in both Baseball and Fast Pitch.

Team Roster and Free Agents

Your team MUST have a minimum of 12 players on the roster (or "buy out" the 12th player and carry 11).
If you are short, you may request players from our free agent registrants.

Our Free Agent placement process is as follows:

  1. Free agents that have registered may be selected in the following ways.

    Youth Divisions & Fast Pitch
Free agents are required to attend an evaluation at Big League Baseball School in Worthington Ohio. These evaluations will be coordinated monthly throughout the registration period to bring free agents and coaches together in order to match players with an appropriate team. BLBS will notify players and coaches of these dates via email provided on their registration. Evaluation dates will also be noted in the update section of the web site as they are scheduled.

    High School
Ohio High School Baseball rules limit 4 players from the same high school to participate on a team. Therefore, free agents will be placed based on their respective high school team, along with the 2 references requested at registration.
  2. Coaches must submit a Free Agent request to BLBS for approval before contacting the player directly.
  3. Once the free agent is selected, they will be added to the team roster.

Skill Clinics

Big League Baseball School owners, Dan Briggs and John Pacella bring thirty years of experience as players (10 Major League Teams) and coaches at both the college and professional level, to these specialized skill clinics which concentrate on the core fundamentals every player needs to be successful. Big League has been instructing players from ages 9 through college since 1995 with over 150 competing successfully at the College and Professional level. BLBS Travel Baseball offers these development clinics free to league participants. We highly recommend players attend. Check the web site for times and dates.
